M(a)y day in Amman....

... was pretty exhausting!
This morning Amman has visited G. W. Bush cause of some occasion. In the morning we were talking about it with girls I stay with. Monika was suposed to have meeting in thesame hotel as he is having the meeting, but she was worried about what might happen, so she canceled it. People stay calm, no special restriction, but police cars, soldiers and planes. Still it is weird feeling though, that man, whose many arabic ppl do not like is in thesame city as I am...
The only thing I hate about his visit is, that due to him the Dead see area is closed for normal people, so I can not visit it. Damned!
I started my day with breakfast near the King Hussein Mosque, typical food - Falafel and Humous (no, humus pratele :) ), but was tasty.
The town itself is a bit dirty, busy, full of watchfull eyes. That is what I really do not like here, but what I have to accept. My sympathy goes for black people in Eureope and white ones in Africa. It takes my energy away, when I go on street and all men just stare, say Hello, what is your name... Little boys even touch me!
I went to Roman Theathre and was lucky to meet a nice guide, who showed me around, even to Citadel, a top hill, from which you can perfectly see the whole Amman and the smog. Walking further to buy some presents or just window shopping along white dirty Amman houses. Suddenly I realized that I got lost, I just followed the path, but finally I prefred to take a local bus back to place I know. Now I will just go back to the flat I stay in and relax...

A busride - arabic style

Yesterday I had the pleasure to travell from Petra back to Amman:). Fistly the bus was suposed to set off from Wadi Musa at 3pm, not earlier, then a guy told me that there might be a bus also at 1, so I sat into bus and waited till the bus is full. Only then the bus is departuring. First I was told the price will be 4JD (about 4EURO) but then after bargaining it was 2,5 which is normal price! We were about 15 ppl in an old little bus, 13 man, one veiled woman and me. The habbit is, that man can sit next to man and thesame with women. Not together. The busdriver lighted up the cigarette, put up a loud arabic music Debka and we set off.
It seemed to me, that the driver was not driving or a right side, but mainly on the left, but I left this business up to him, and I decided to trust him...
On a way to Amman (about 3 hours on a highway) we met suddenly a truck standing across the street without any worries, the drivers started to talk... After 3 minutes he carried on driving. We met also a van with sheep, soldiers standing along the street with tanks and the whole way to Amman was alliged with either kind of stony desert or few villages.
On half way the busdriver stoped for a break, every man went out to smoke. Slowly approaching Amman the bus started to be more empty. Very soon there was just me girl and about 10 men watching me. Well, interesting feeling. I managed to arrive safe to meeting point with my friend and after the whole day not eathing anything I was just longing for something "european". Near university of Jordan campus I saw McDonalds and simmilar fastfoods. I blessed globalization at a point of time while going to the Burger King and ordered one BIG burger!! And I was happy :))

Extraordinary Adventure

I can still feel the smoke of the bedouin fire. It has been about 10 hours back since I have come threw an extraordinary adventure.
In the morning we set up with Johan from the hotel to Petra, to carry on with exploring, climbing high. We managed to climb to High place of Sacrifice, from where it was a spactacular view to the landscape. Johan had to leave, cause his bus to Aquaba was leaving at 3o clock, so he left me alone. I was a bit worried to be alone in half dessert, but OK, I wanted to come back to hotel and fill up somehow the rest of the day.
There are many bedouins in Petra. They are kind of gipsys, but they offer donkey rides, work on excavations, show around to tourists, live separated in bedouins village or in caves. And I was lucky to meet one of those - Sami. First, meeting him on a road back he offered me a donkey ride, for free, then we started to talk and we both really enjoyed that. While riding a donkey we came to remote places of Petra - the spring of water, only watersource in Petra, to Monastery, great carving into sandstone and we had spactacular view at sunset on a dessert Wadi Araba and black mountain while drinking special bedouin mint tea. Afterwards Sami took me to the bedouin village to meet his family- mum, dad and 12 children. It was very interesting to see how they live. A big house, quite dirty, in livingroom they had just a carpet to sit on and children were watching TV there. They are really hospitable and served for me a mint tea. Afterwards with Sami and his brothere we set up to the mountains on a donkey again to make a dinner on fire in a cave. Donkey ride downwards is really adrenalinride! In a cave guys made a fire and suddenly the whole little cave was full of smoke, I had tears in eyes cause of that. Sami took me out and we climbed (in dark) on the mountain top to sit dow, lay back and watch stars while his brothere was preparing the dinner called bedouin coctail - chicken, potatoes and tomatoes together in aluminium cover.
The view from the top was awsome. Some lights from caves as some bedouins were making fires too, stars, moon. After while we went back, ate the dinner and came back to bedouin village. Sami wanted me to stay overnight with his family, he did not want me to stay in hotel, because usualy people from the town do not have a good realtion to bedouins. Bedouins take them their business while letting people stay overnight in bedouins village for free. But I was decided to safe sleep in a hostel. I thanked Sami a lot and asked for the address, but he could not even write it, he did not attend school, so he can not write and read... I gave him a little present - Czech flag, which I was carrying so far everywhere I went. We saw a car approaching, which was heading to Wadi Musa, the town, where I stay. Sami asked them to take me to the hostel. I sat up at the pick up back, said Sami bye. While riding back I saw the lights from the bedouins village, stars, road by night and I felt I had very special day, that I will never forget! Thanks Sami for that...

Petra

Hi guys, greetings from such a remote and one of the most beautiful parts of the world / Petra. Firstly thanks guys very much for your comments, how did you get my blog address? I like the conference so much, it gave me a lot of energy and feeling of happiness that I moved many people forward to set on awsome path in their lives. Thanks guys for the sugarcubes... Eventhough it was not always easy and I went threw some UPs and DOWNs it felt like what I did make sense...

Today we set up on a big journey. From Aquaba we went to Petra, the stone city. In a bus we met Johann a swedish guy, who explained me the Israel and Palestina fights, and we stayed together in 3, which was good... In the area of Petra we spent about 5 hours, we saw bedouins with donkeys, camels - I rode a camel for the first time in my life :) and then we were climbing the mountines and we manage to see the sunset with just gret view (the pics will follow).
Greetings from Middle East,

Jordan - different as well as simmilar

Since I arrived here to Jordan I have came threw many many things / nice mostly! Jordan is very interesting country. The population itself is comming from the countries Jordan is bordering with. That is why they are different, but on the other way islam is connecting all of them.
The conference Ready, Set, Go! is the name of the first conference of AIESEC Expansion to Jordan. The new generation of people decided to join the biggest students run organization in the world. Man, they are awsome dudes!!! Today is the first day of the conference. Arrived 60 people / 50% boys 50% girls. For me especially it is different, that girls are wearing different things, are valed. But on the other hand, they see the importance of the common thing that bond us together - whathever religion we belong to, whatever we wear... they have simmilar point of view as I do, when we were sharing things at the dinner. For me it is really big learning, my eyes are opened for 101%, I try to talk also with externals, that were invited for the conference. I talked to the Chief officer of Chamber of Commerce in Jordan, which was very interesting. I am glad to be here, indeed.

The delegates are getting excited, so do I :)
so far I do not have any pics, but they are comming soon...

Ahlan!

Jordan, first impresions

Well, i managed to get the internet connection, as far as we all are really busy I am happy to write a post. After demanding flight, with changing in Bucharest and Cairo, I managed to be in Jordan, yeah, sooo away from home. It is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo different here. I mean it, really! Firstly, i am wearing always short sleave, it is about 20 degrees here. There are men looking at me constantly, they are wearing their arabic suit and watching, whistling... Women are wearing the scarf or are valed completely in black. Now we are in Aquaba, next to Israel borders. Oh man, it is so different here! The preparations for the conference is in the full swing, we are currently going threw some challenges, but we are sure it is gonna be a success...
I go work now, stay tuned for my special stories hehe:)

Šumava mountains trip

I woke up to a gloomy, cold, foggy day. What to do? I saw in TV that it is so called "inversion weather" in valleys foggy and on mountains sunny and warm. Well... the plan is made! With my parents we sat in tha car - without my brother, Jara is currently in Amsterdam with his friend!
As we drove more up from Strakonice heading to Šumava mountains (on the border with Germany) we could see more and more sun light:))
We did nice hiking in the forest, explore also some peat moor (rašeliniště) and nearly drown;)

It was nice and relaxing afternoon!

Jordan is comming soon...

In about a week and something I am going to Jordan to facilitate the first conference in history of AIESEC Jordan. Our faci team consists of 6 people from Slovakia, Czech Republic, Ukraina, USA, Egypt, India and Chair from Slovakia (currently in the Netherlands) - Ondro! Pretty international, isn´t it?! The conference itself is for 60 delegates - newies in AIESEC Jordan!
The preparation is in full swing. Working out session outlines to facilitate, learning about Jordan, it´s culture, it´s places of interest...
The view at Gulf of Aqaba(conference site:p)

My plan so far is firstly successfull conference, which takes place on south, in Aqaba and then travelling for a week. I would love to see the Dead see (and swim there if it is possible hehe), the stone city called Petra, city of Amman and maybe more... It all depends on who I am gonna travell with (don´t wanna travell on my own) and money. It is gonna be more or less a random trip:)
Eventhough I am a bit woried about everything (normal fear before a big journey, hehe:) ) I am really looking forward for this big and so far unknown part of the world!

Half year with SNOW, half year without...

Today is after aproximately half a year the day when it started to snow in the Czech republic again! I haven´t seen snow since April, hmm.. It is freezing enough, so winter can beginn!
PS: I don´t know why I am always so excited, when it starts to snow for the first time in the particular winter:)
PS2: Another reason for excitement: I passed my state exam from International Trade yesterday!!! Hard studying for my bachelor exams since June is over:))) Now just enjoying (the snow), travelling and having fun hehe!! Hopefully I will be Bc. in January;)
