The year 2006

Celebration of New Year´s Eve is close and time for looking back at the year 2006 has come.
That year was very SPECIAL and one of the BEST in my life so far.

Firstly, my ERASMUS in Uppsala/Sweden - this half a year changed me. I am sure about it. The way I think, my opinions on people, things, importance of my family. I especially realized how important it is to be myself and don´t disguise and act according to other ppl.

After comming back I suffered from kinda depression - missing times of my life. I managed to pass the worst exams, that i was afraid from for the whole study period. I was proud of myself! I saw when I really want I can make it!!!

I also enjoyed one month of holidays with Honza, my ex-boyfriend. Our travelling to Vienna, Austria and Italy was amazing. In a short period I saw many nice places and we had much fun!

One of the best parties this year - LOVE PARADE 2006 - my dream came true!

In September I went back to study in Prague. I thought it will be much worse to rehabilitate, but it went quite OK. Also thanks to my friends - Hanka, Jarda and also my room-mates at dorms. Thanks, guys!

I felt again the spirit of AIESEC conferences, having many new thoughts in my head. The biggest learning I had, was at SNC - "No one can change your life, if you don´t like it. It is just you, who can change it" I will remember it forever.

If someone told me, that in November I would be travelling to Middle East I would just laugh. Somtimes we narrow our minds. Nothing is impossible though. It just needs a decision and determination and you can have it. And so I went to Jordan... It was one of the biggest culture learning I have ever had. The outcome is, that the people I met are quite simmilar like we (european ppl) are, just the thing that makes them to be treated differently is the culture and religion they live in.

Travelling - this year I visited 9 countries for the first time - Sweden, Norway, Finland, Dänmark, Estonia, Italy, Jordan, Romania, Holland. This is absolutely amazing!

About month ago I finished my Bachelor´s thesis and I hope to be
Bc. Pavlína Becková in January!

Quite at the end of the year, while hoping to meet my friends from Erasmus once, I went to Holland and I saw that Erasmus was not just fairy-tale we lived in, but true life experience, that gave me true friends, who I can see again:)

And so now at the end of year 2006 I am gratefull for this amazing year. I was given many challenges, happiness, some sad moments, ups and downs...

I hope the year 2007 will be at least simmilar...:)

Magic moments in AIESEC

I would like to share with you some moments that have made my life special for 3,5 years now...

Firstly of course joining AIESEC (Local Comitee Prague) - one of the best decisions in my life (truly)! First impresions-what a messy office... smiling people ... going for a conference, why not? ...work hard, party hard .... I love AIESEC dances :))
After a year I had an amazing opportunity to lead my own team... (thanks to Ondra, Lydka, Tillman, Radek, Magda and Verca)
Being teamleader ment also bonding with Executive Board and fellow TMLs, people I like a lot- we went for canoeing and rafting in Prague and also to "rope centre", we had good fun and I enjoyed that day a lot!One of the best times I had was going to and international conference NaLDS (national leadership and development seminar) to Germany - Firstly (2004) as and Organizing Committee and next year (2005) as a delegate... I will never forget the people I was there with and the perfect conference site - in the middle of nowhere with first snow each year! Amazing. Dale Carnegie Course, which I have attended for 3 months thanks to AIESEC! Focusing on my personality, teamwork, strenghtening my self-confidence.

It is always hilarious fun at conferences, crazy dancing with Káčko:p, loads of fun with Hartoška, Jaro and Roman while jumping on a wall:))), yeah, we are crazy enough!!!
One of the best conerences lately was LTC 2006, where I was a part of Outdoor team! Not everything important is happening just behind walls of any building or university! What a fun it was this summer, when we were canoeing with Hartoška, Jaro, Kacířek, Pecan, Alex and Roman. Nobody drowned, even sometimes we were close;)!
In AIESEC I learned many things... The biggest learning was probably the decision to start drinking beer:p ...quickly;)As AIESEC is a global organization I had a opportunity to work not just in Prague, but also in Sweden, where I went for my ERASMUS studies. I had awsome time with AIESEC Uppsala - organizing National Conference 2, preparing induction, training for TMLs. I met great people there. Have a look at my OC team while enjoying the Official dinner! Fancy, he? ;)
... one day, not long ago I heared about one international opportunity... Firstly I thought - OK, opportunities come and go. But after some beers with my friends I started to think about it seriously - and I went for a facilitatior in JORDAN! What an experience!
I am really glad that 3,5 years ago I joined this organization. I see, it deffinitely changed my life, it is constantly giving me various opportunities and different prospecitves on many things. Oh yeah, and the main thing - it gave me friends! Thanks, AIESEC:)

Trip to Madaba, Dead Sea...

My days in Jordan are passing by really quickly, my schedule is always full, which is just perfect. But it all is comming slowly to the end. Tomorrow evening I will say bye and I will be looking forward to see my friends, parents... But I am really gratefull for such an experience - Facilitator one and also to get to know the arabic world.

Yesterday I set off alone for a big trip, going by bus to western part of Amman to Madaba, the town of mosaics. I visited St.George Church with ancient mosaic map. Accidently I came across an older man, who was a taxi driver and who offered me the whole-day-taxi for about 20Euros, which was a good price for the whole day and for all I saw. Threw out the whole day we were chatting, singing in a car and he offered me a typical arabic coffee with cardamon.

Firstly we went to Mount Nebo, the place, where Moses saw the "Promised Land" and where was he also burried. The view was just perfect. I could see Jerusalem in front of me, Betlehem, Dead Sea, river Jordan... The whole day was about 20 degrees - perfectly convenient for travelling (imagine short sleves in December!)
We were carying on to Bethany-behind-the-Jordan, the place which is believed that Jesus Christ was baptised. I payed a big entrance fee, but it was worth it. I had a bedouin guide just for myself, he told me all about the place, which was revealed just 7 years ago. Then we carried on together to the river Jordan. I had a luck to see a little kid being baptised right next to the river on thesame place where Jesus was. About 8 meters infront of me was West Bank, Palestanian teritory, it was interesting feeling to be at such an important place. I found it interesting that among so many arabic ppl such an fatal matter for Christians happend.
Our next stop was at the Dead Sea, oh yes, no Bush :) The only thing concerning Bush visit in Jordan were soldiers with machineguns along the streets, which personally I found quite uncomfortable. Especially when we were passing a Check point right next to the Dead Sea, one of the soldiers was watching my passport and his gun was pointing at me! Not a good feeling, man!
Dead Sea... oh man, my dream came true. It is really soo salty, three times more salty then normal sea. You even can not say "swiming" in the sea, cause it is imposible to swim there. You just float, sit in the water. It was amazing experience. The sea was even quite warm so we stayed about an hour there. After a warm bathing in a hot spring, we (the driver and me) were comming back to Madaba, the place from where we set off. There I grabed a quick food and went back to Amman to meet my friends.
In the eveining we were sitting together drinking wine (even in an arabic country it is possible to get tipsy:)) and afterwards we went to a bar, talking, enjoying the time. After midnight we took a cab and went sleep...
