Some nice days with Joost

Maybe you know maybe you don´t - but it is more than 1 year since I have known Joost - a guy from Holland, who I met at Erasmus in Sweden. Since then we got to know each other quite well and become good friends. In December I visited him in Utrecht and I was lucky to host Joost these days in Prague and Strakonice, at my parent´s house.

With some people you just don´t work out in which corner of the World you meet, but what matters are the chats and fun you have:)

Nevertheless I prepared an interesting program - we went out to pub with my friends, trying some Czech beer (Gambrinus - my favourite:) ), typical Prague sightseeing, Museum of Communism, Prague by night, Fun-fair "Matějská pouť ", climbing TV tower, nice Cafés and dinners out, party in Face2Face club - till5AM! :) Moreover we went to Strakonice, my hometown to explore non-typical tourist place and just to see how ordinary Czech ppl live.

Next and maybe the last reunion of Uppsala veterans is gonna happen in Sweden/Uppsala in April.

Looking forward.

The Wheel of Life

Few days ago I had a "coaching chat" with Hanka and she introduced me a very intersting concept of "The Wheel of Life", which should singinify how do we currently feel about our lives.

The point was to make a dot in each of parts of the circle (imaginatory scale from 1 to 10; 1 the worst - in the middle of the circle,10 the best - at the edge of the circle) and afterwards connect all the little dots into one "line". Eventually you can see, if your life is balanced and looks like a wheel, or a flat tyre with a gap in some parts.

I was very surprised how my "wheel" looked like and I am ready to focus on the areas of my life which are weak.
And furthermore I have already started with the action! I am searching some part-time job to fill my "career" gap. And since April I am starting to teach English, twice a week in a language school!

I love Prague

There are not many places in the world, about which I can say I love them. I have to confess, that Prague is ONE of those. I have been living in Prague for 3 years now. It is very special city, capital like no other. I am very lucky I can study here - city for students, that doesn´t miss anything including perfect universities with cool campus, parks, bars, dorms, where I can live.
Prague means for me a city for just hanging out in old streets, especially in the evenings, when the street lamps light romantic through narrow streets. I have been to many cities and capitals, but Prague is special somehow - it has the typical atmosphere -block of flats everywhere, typical trams, different architecture styles and people usualy mind their own business, don´t care about others, but when start to talk to someone, they are really nice.

It is not just Prague, but I love the whole Czech Republic - little fields, ponds, rivers, green, yellow, cities, villages... While I was landing with a plane comming back from Jordan I realized, how proud and happy I am living in such a nice, little, colourful, beautiful country.

I like travelling, exploring new countries. However, I am always happy to come back home...

A week in Madrid with Pablo

One week has gone really fast and I am back in Prague, reflecting, going through pictures and remembering my tremendous week in Spain.

First some facts - I was visiting Spain for the first time in my life. I know some Spanish and I could clearly see, that how we say in czech litterally: "how many languages you know, makes you that many times a human beeing". True. It also must be mentioned that Madrid is very beautiful city - especially I loved it during evenings or sunny afternoons - narrow streets, magnificent "plazas", pulsing with life atmosphere...

With Pablo we had a very nice time, enjoying the whole week and I thank you Pablo for it...

On Thursday, when I arrived he gave me a quick rough guide threw Madrid - so in one day i knew the whole center:)

Friday I devoted to the culture - visiting Museo del Prado was amazing. It is said to be as important for Spain as Louvre is for France. There are paintings from El Greco, Velazqueze or Goyas famous paintings. One museum wasn´t enough, I went to see Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza. Evening relax was needed - Woody Allen movie fixed it:) Not to avoid real spanish culture we went out in the evening - to have some beer and tapas - tasty!

Weekend was very nice! Pablo took me to Aranda, (north from Madrid) place where his parents live. We were lucky - in the town was a medieval market, which made the atmosphere like in Middle Ages - counting old market place, castle, old painted houses, wine cellar, vegetable market...
Value added for me was to speak the whole weekend in spanish, othervise I couldn´t talk to Elias and Angela - the parents. We were talking very passionately about various topics, especially history or Prague..:) Sometimes I had to just laugh, how I used additionally to spanish language also my hands, movements, etc. to make myself understood. But I managed and it encouraged me to spend some time in spanish speaking country in upcomming future.

On Sunday we went for a big family trip to Segovia. The old Roman town with majestic cathedral, aquaduct, many churches, castillos... We were walking down the streets, exploring castles, chilling out in pubs on our way to have some wine... nice.

Tuesday I set off to Toledo, (south from Madrid) again old Roman city, former capital of Spain. I was happy to have a beautiful weather - sun and about 20 degrees. Coming by train from Atocha, the train station, where in 2003 the teroristic attack stroke. I felt quite uncomfortable sitting at Atocha in a train and wating for the train to depart...

Toledo was amazing - again an old Cathedral, but much bigger than in Segovia - I couldn´t miss the tour though, which was worth it. I prefered just wondering around in Toledo than seeking for all the touristic atractions, which revealed to be a good solution. Old narrow streets with shade from the sun had their special spirit. I liked very much just sitting in a park and watching the countryside, river Tajo and the mixture of architecture all around - starting from Arabic ages, continuing with catholic reconquist...
In the evening I sat in the train completely exhausted from the whole walking and fell asleep.

Wednesday, my last day, while Pablo was working hard, I went to Centro de Arte Reina Sofía - a gallery of modern art. I had the chance to see Dalí´s or Picasso´s paintings. I was impressed by "Guernica" by Pablo Picasso. I had time, so i sat down in the room with the big painting and draw a part of Guernica to my book. Actually I did enjoyed it:)
My lazy day continued in botanic garden, close to Reina Sofía. Unfortunatelly it started to rain. Nevertheless I had a good time there.

Finally it seems like I spent more than 1 week in Spain. The time went by very fast and I enjoyed enormously every single minute...
