Botanic garden in Prague with Kristy, my ex/best-roommate

Čus všichni/Hi all:)
The last week in Prague is gone! I am moved out of the dorms, interruption of my studies is accepted. Vaccination done. I already have got a flat in Malaysia, KL. I am ready to go! Now I am planning to spend my last days in the Czech rep. home- in Strakonice/on holidays with my family, pop into Prague for visa and of course Saturday Sensation White in Prague.

But! What I was up to that last week? Bye bye coffees with friends, packing, crazy shopping, pubbing and visiting Botanic garden with my ex/best-roommate Kristy! It was like our bye bye activity to finish up our cool 1/2 year living together. We visited the Green house "Fata Morgana" with the tropic flora, we also walked outside to see the Japanese garden and much more. It was very nice noon - you can check my flickr...

In the Prague Zoo!!!

It´s been my first time I was in the Zoo in Prague! I did not want to go alone, so Martin (a friend of mine, who I met in AIESEC) joined me. We had so much fun, indeed!
What were the reasons to go to the zoo then? I wanted to see the animals I might come across in Malaysia and as far as Martin is planning to go for an internship to Mexico, he was interested in the fauna of Latin America. We both succeeded!
We went through the whole zoo within 5 hours, we saw Indonesian jungle, pinguins, zebras, lions, cockroaches, elephants, spiders and Africa house... I liked the animals as well as the plants, flora.. simply the whole zoo is beautiful!
I especially liked the Indonesian jungle. Firstly because I could see which animals I will meet in Malaysia and secondly because of the fun we had there! When entering the jungle we saw a giant lzard (varan)- both of us were just shocked while imagining that I will meet something like that on my way home e.g.. The dark part of the jungle was full of bats, so we were trying to hide to them not to run into us - it was just funny!
The pictures from the zoo are here

Martin and me had a really cool, fun and relaxed afternoon and just after finishing in the zoo we went to the bye bye party (of 5 ppl- including me) that was held in a park, in a beer garden. Yeah, the beer there was excellent;)

Doing the right things

How can we be sure, that we are doing right things at the right time? We are doubting it all the time. We don´t want to be treat as cowards, so we just don´t admitt that we are not sure about the things we do/did. And another thing: Should we use the right or the left brain hemisphere when deciding about topics like going abroad, studying or friendships/relationships?

...it´s again just up to US to decide what is possibly the right thing. NOONE else will decide for us. HARD life:)

Preparation in process

Some of you guys might be wondering, how do I prepare to Malaysia... Hehe, I guess some of you even had to search for it on the map of the World;) (I did thesame at the beginning, no worries)

Since I have known the big news about my internship, I started to gather info about the country, I´ve visited the Malaysian Ambassy in Prague (the ambassador was smoking like hell!), I already have got several injections in my body with Hepatitis and so on. I got in touch with trainees in Kuala Lumpur and a trainee Jana from Germany, who alrady works in the company I am gonna work too. She is my only source of info concerning the dress code in the company and other useful info.

I also met 2 former Czech trainees who have been in Malaysia for some time (both on very North of the country). The first one motivated me very much and I started to look forward like a freak. The other one, Hani, she gave me the real overview on the country, told me her story and at certain point of time I had to admire her, that she was so strong to go through such a tough experience. So now I know that I should expect gekons on the walls, cockroaches living with me in my room (hopefully not!!! please...:)) ) and three times a big culture shock (Malay, Chinese and Indian one). Hanka borrowed me also Lonley Planet guide, so I am an obedient reader:) I realized that there are many beautiful places to visit - Kuala Lumpur itself where I am going to live, green mountains with tea plantation, different cultural events (Chinese, Hindu, Malay...), endless white-sandy beaches with blue water and palms:P, opportunity to go to rain forests, Singapore, very tasty food and totally different Malay language (e.g.1,2,3,4 is: satu, tua, tiga, empat) - will be funny:)!

I am pretty sure it is gonna be a great cultural, working experience as well as a personal challenge jaxviňa;)!!

I started also think what to bring with me (20kg limit) for 8 months! It is gonna be a hard decision! The plan for less then one month now is to finish successfully semester at the school, spend as much time with my family as possible, also enjoy my bye bye parties and time with my friends here in Prague...

About saving the energy and recycling

Today there was a learning activity organized by AIESEC focused on Global warming and I feel a strong need to share points that were brought up by the discussion and at the movie Inconvenient truth shot by Al Gore.
Firstly, concerning the movie - according to my point it was a kind of promo campaign of (maybe future president of US) Al Gore, but also showing the problems of global warming on various catchy graphs, photos of Greenland, Antarctis and hills of mountains lacking the snow. I think it is needed to show the threat, but society should take it not very seriously and just blindly follow.

Secondly, after the movie we (about 15 people) were having a discussion with 2 experts/professors of Environmental Economy department from our university. I found it very interesting and quite shocking. We were talking about hight production of CO2 and enormous consumption of energy and it´s saving. The lady professor said that there are two major possibilities of energy saving from the scientific point: heating less our houses, offices, and it´s better isolation to prevent the heat escape. Those cause the major energy runaway. And according to her it is the main point to save the energy/the World!

I also brought up the phenomenon of importance of recycling the waist (that also saves energy) and the prfessor´s point was very shocking. "Recycling is not important at all and it doesn´t save energy, it even needs more energy for all those engines, that destroy all the waist. So we should better devote our efforts to saving energy differently." Well how about the people´s feeling doing good deads? And the environment? She said that not even in Sweden they save energy while recycling nearly everything. After half year living in Sweden and recycling everything I saw the mindset of Swedish people that they even have better approach to the environment. And I think that´s the point of all recycling. Saving the resources, saving the energy of plants that use recycled products and finally also happiness of people that they help the planet to save it for future generations.

I do hope that recycling will be in the future a big issue. And even I have to admitt I do not recycle everything myself (I recycle bottles, glass ...) I hope that parliment will also establish the environment/laws for us to care more about it even if it doesn´t save that much energy according to the experts...

Outgoing Preparation Seminar 2007

OPS is an AIESEC conference designed for the ones, who are going soon for an AIESEC internship. As far as I am going, I took part in it.
2 days talking about culture differences, cuture shocks, getting to know new people (80 delegates from the whole Czech Rep), sharing perspectives, new points of view, why to choose this and that country, for how long to abroad, setting internship goals, expecations...

For me, it was sooooooooooooooooooo worth 2 days of my life, especially that I started to think very consciously about where I am going, starting to prepare for THE culture shock (and I expect a pretty big one!). The OPS gave me a big lecture and I know that I have to be very open-minded and tolerant in Malaysia, when I arrive there.

But! OPS was not just about such a serious stuff. In the evening we had a global village - the whole room full of tables, each peresenting different culture/coutry. And couple of ppl and me were presenting Sweden - it was so much fun, we decorated the table with flags (togeter with Finland), bought cookies, Absolut vodka, Cranberry juice... And singing Helan Gär while drinking the typical swedish Midsommar spirit! Oh! So cool :)

OPS2007 was very worth visiting and I feel much more prepared for going abroad then before coming to OPS. Due to it I think I might gain more valuable experience in Malaysia. Thanks @!

President of the Czech Republic giving lecutre at our university

Yesterday I had pleasure to visit a lecture of our president Vaclav Klaus with the topic "Economics and Global Warming". The aula where he was giving the lecture was overcrowded (from normally 500 people there were about 700!) The president was obviously delighted by this amount of students.
He had very interesting points of view on Global warming topic, on natural sources depletion e.g.petrol (in soon future no major problem according to him). The most interesting statement was that we should care about present environment and don´t focus enormously on future (which is kind of selfish in my opinion) He had quite good arguments thought.

Finally, i am very glad that at University of Economics (VŠE) we had such an opportunity to see so many interesting people giving lecutres like president Klaus, Lord Mayor of Prague Pavel Bém or HR manager of Škoda (former vice prime minister) Martin Jahn. I think I chose the right university:P

Sweden ...comming back!

6 days in Sweden. After 1 year. First I did not know what to expect, but I was fu..ing looking forward. The whole stay was full of feelings, memories, new advantures, relax, partying and fun with friends - Pablo, Joost, Inga, Marieke, Ludo, Augusti and others.
First two days we were hanging out in Stockholm with Joost and then all of us met in Uppsala. First impresions of Uppsala were quite mixed just because of the feeling "Being back", but next days we went for cool parties, had a relax in cabins, went for a tea in our favourite tea house...

and what was the best - Valborg again - Champagne breakfast in our cabin, jumping on chairs and then going for a Champagne Gallop in Värmlands nation - 3 hours of music, sun, spraying champagne, jumping around... INSANE!
